My dad, Jim Heselwood, went down South, possibly London to pick up some buses with some other drivers. Anyone remember when it would be?
This is a well known photograph of a Stockton Corporation Leyland bus. It is working an “8” service from Yarm to Stockton via Hilton and Thornaby. The location is on the road between Low Lane (A1044) and Thornaby Airfield. The actual location is now the roundabout at the entrance to Ingleby Barwick/Teesside Industrial Estate. The lorry is owned by Sunter Brothers of Northallerton and was hauling a vessel from Head Wrightsons of Thornaby to reach the A19 which in 1960 ran through Yarm to Thirsk
