I have fond memories of this school that I attended from 1974-76 for the last two years of junior school. One of the things I loved about this school building was the square in the middle where we kept rabbits and guinea pigs. Some of us were very excited during school holidays as we took them home with us to look after. Unfortunately, it being a flat roofed building meant that kids could climb over at weekends and release all the animals ‘for a laugh’. It meant that a lot of us had pet rabbits! Aah, happy days.
I taught year 5 (3rd Yr Junior) here from 1971 until I left to go to Ormesby Junior in Middlesbrough. I remember occasions when intruders climbed into the centre enclosure. Some children found the stress to the animals quite traumatic and I think in the end the animals were removed. I don’t remember teaching a Catherine Marsh, but I guess it could be that you used not to be ‘Marsh’ at that time
I was in 3rd year juniors in about 1971/72 and you were my teacher, (I was called Hazel Cooper). I remember you got married the same year and we had a little collection and bought you a frying pan from Frank Dees! I wonder if you still have it?
