My last year at school was in Frank Showells class in the Wesleyan Chapel at the top of Norfolk Street, being on the top table I got to sit on a cinema type seat. In 1941/42 Mr. Showell started a boys club called the Eagle Club, of which I was a founder member, the club room was a large loft in the Alliance St / Denshams corner area, I think, access was via a trap-door. At the same time Mr.Ward, headmaster, started a platoon of Army Cadets, he was an Honourary Major, I joined this also. Does anyone remember the Eagle Club and what became of it? I lost track after I left school and moved away.
Has anybody out there a photo of the Oxbridge Lane football team of the year 1964 – 65?
