Hartburn Bridge was demolished in the spring of 1976 I think. I remember nicking off school to go to the Brickie one Tuesday it was there and the following week on the Friday it was gone.!!
Re: The Jubilee Stone at Sadberge. This stone was uncovered at the Fighting Cocks Reservoir when it was under construction and believe the Stone came from the Shap area (being Granite Stone) and was dumped there by the Gracial Ice sheets from the last Ice Age.
“Sadberge is the place to keep away from, because when they come and they are coming, that’s where they’ll come from.” – He’s cracked you think, all those late nights and early mornings are beginning to take their toll, but it is true. When we were little children and I in my short pants many years ago we walked to Sadberge, not with dad this time but with someone else, can’t remember who? It had to be true; there was the meteorite with the crack through it when they came the last time, the crack is where they came out of. Work that one out, go and have a look it is still there with a bronze plaque on it. The plaque is only a ploy, it says something about Queen Victoria but take no notice of that, they are out there and they are coming. A few years later at school learning about local history, this meteorite was mentioned and its location, sending a shiver down my spine. I wonder if the teacher knew. A few years after that whilst working at Darlington, travelling to and from at weekends each time passing it I would have a little chuckle to my self, my secret. Roy.

Surely it was after 1970 when the bridge was demolished. Does any one have the exact date?
