  1. Bread Twists – Was I first introduced to Ozzy Woods by roaming up there my self, family country walks or with the Cub/Scouts? I think as far as adventures go it must have been the latter, making bread twists on sticks and cooking/burning them over an open fire, the aroma next to none, then the burning of the lips without blowing first. Blending in to the back ground, (camouflage) so you could be as one with nature, if you can remember all the bits in the right order then the memories are so real, remembering them at all never mind getting them in the right order would be a start. Maybe I was playing around when they were rubbing two cub scouts together to get the fires started, never remembered lighting fires, or learning how to do so, Swan Vestas always worked for me since. This is one place and organisation it felt right in my short pants. Such a big organisation then the cub/scouts and would have been much larger if the boys that wanted to go went but were prevented by finance, for the uniform, not so much the initial kitting out (as all stops are pulled out to achieve that) but replacing items out grown, this coupled with the school uniform and Sunday best was beyond a lot of peoples means. That is why the Army Cadet Force and the Air Training Corps was so popular, the uniforms and subsequent out grown items were free, but the entrance age was much later. Roy.
