The Christmas bus! As an 9 year old in late 1969 when I moved to the area, I always loved the Christmas bus. I think nowadays the Christmas bus is something of the past and & ‘John’ is the only driver still dressing up for charity at Christmas time… or has John now retired, having driven me around Stockton for about 40 years?
This bus could not have been for Christmas 1960 as the gentleman on the left of the photo is the general manager W.M.Campbell who retired in May 1950, and I do not think he would have turned out on a cold wet day for a photo at Christmas 1950 as he was in poor health. So it would have been earlier,and as this bus no. 106 GUP558 was purchased new in 1947 and could only been decorated for Christmas 1947/48/or49 during the time the manager was still in office.Hope this is of some interest.
