I was confirmed here in 1959 and generations of my family on my mother”s side are buried here. Its a very beautiful old church, St Mary”s.
This church is St. Mary”s Church on the green at Norton my daughter married there in 2001. This church goes way back in history. and is very beautiful, very popular with people wanting to get married.
The first of these pictures must have been taken originally between 1823 and 1872, in 1823 the side aisles were widened and the galleries added along with additional box pews, this increased the seating capacity by 350 to a total of 850, in 1872 the 1823 work was reversed with the removal of the galleries by Messrs. Alexander and Harison of stockton and the aisle walls were returned to their original position. At the same time all the box pews were removed and replaced with rush bottomed chairs.
