A general view of the north end of Stockton from the west looking east, including Norton Road, the Victoria housing estate and the Portrack Lane and Ross Road housing estate. The River Tees is on the right of the picture. Stockton Municipal Buildings, the library and Police Station can also be seen.
The North Shore Branch (line) can be clearly seen in this picture. It starts from a point halfway up the left hand of the picture and ends at the River Tees. It looks as though the massive reinforced concrete bridge, which carried the line over Church Road, was still in existence. It is also possible to discern the curved path of the sidings into the Malleable works. The Remploy building, near the river, was being taken down but the foundations can still be discerned. A historic picture, since nothing much of this is left.
