  1. There was a young full time student attended this Stockton Technical College about 1960 called Colin Bell,he later played football for England & Manchester City.

  2. I too attended the tech in 1964, and remember well the pit gym and the Gym teacher, who I belive was called Me Dehan. I still have some of the tools that I made in the metal workshop round the back. Also I remember the Physics teacher, Mr Knaggs, and his Rover, we used to call him “King of the Road” Re a popular song of the time. The stuff he taught me has stood me in good stead over the years. Mr Bell, I think taught us maths and engineering principles. Any idea what the Tech Drawing teacher was called? The attic room with the judo mat also holds fond memories for me of the end of course rehearsals with Tony Spence and his guitar.

  4. I attended this grand old building when it was Stockton Technical College 1964 – 1966. Used to play badminton in the gym that was in a pit in the first floor and table tennis in the common room. In the roof or attic level we had a college youth club called the “roof top” and there was a room with a judo mat where we practised judo with one of the teachers who was a “Brown Belt”. I cannot remember his name but remember the venerable old Mr. Knaggs, who always called me Rastus (because of my growing teenage nose, I presume), who drove an old Rover and taught physics, Ding dong Bell who ran the football team. Mr Smith the Principal was an ardent socialist who was proud that he knew the Speaker of the House of Commons who was from Stockton and attended this building when it was a school, Kingsey was the famous man”s nickname as a boy. I have very fond memories of the this building and the wooden machine shops behind it, were my grandfather”s brother Harold Williamson used to teach when it first became a technical college, after the war. The other brother of my grandfather was Joe Williamson who owned the haulage company station sidings near the railway bridge next to the station.

    • Hi Tony, there was also another brother called Jonathon and a sister called Marjorie, all long gone now, however I did see Harry once when my mother pointed him out to me on Yarm Lane many years ago, we also visited Marjorie and her husband, Norman when they lived in Hartburn.
