I believe this photo is of the farm on the Yorkshire side of the Tees nr Preston-Hall. Taking school trips on the “Teesside-Princess” I recall the skipper calling base to alert the farmer that two of his sheep were on the Durham side and others were on the edge of the steep bank above the river. This section of the bank is honey-combed with Sand-Martin nesting holes and the silent approach of the “Princess” allowed the children to see foxes, birds and other wild-life in the nearby fields. No matter what the weather a view from the river is breathtaking I prefer autumn with every colour of green, gold and red along the banks, with a frosty view when winter sunshine turns the trees to glinting Christmas trees and the reed-beds to silver candles.
