In the 45/46 picture the player 5th from the left is my brother Les Dunning. He worked at ICI until about 1970 when he was headhunted by an American company and moved to the states. He worked mainly in Detroit at Chrysler and moved to Florida when he retired, sadly he died in March of 2014.
Mick Leighton, bottom photo, front-row centre, sorry to hear of his sad passing. Mick was originally a Gashouse lad from Langley Street
Schools football was very popular in those times. I felt privileged to encourage pupils/students in sport as a benefit to their fuller lives. 2 teachers in particular had given me and others encouragement at SGS. I think that motivation was quite common then. It was during your days that RHS started using the Ropner Playing Fields at Fairfield, the field previously used by Stockton Sec” until it moved as Grangefield Grammar to Oxbridge Avenue. The Richard Hind field is still green I think whereas houses were built on the other field. Does anyone have photos of the Ropner Playing Fields? Stockton Grammar used the adjoining field. Alan will have noted the comment about not publishing e-mail addresses but if anyone wishes to develop contacts – that could also lead to further helping this site”s “caretakers” – the Picture Stockton team will forward messages to other participants on request.
