New gates for Ropner Park.

The new gates being erected at Ropner Park are an exact replica of the old Victorian ones. The Park is currently being restored as part of a £3.4 million Heritage Lottery funded programme that will see many of the original features restored to their former glory. The old photograph shows the gates at the park in 1910. Ropner Park was opened on 4th October 1893 on land given by Robert Ropner. Photographs courtesy of Parks and Coutryside

  1. Mandale Road Thornaby my maternal family lived in a house above a shop in Mandale road, thier address was back Mandale Road, I would love to see some pics of the shops opposite the PO and of the back streets after Pumpreys, by the banks near Archer Street.

  2. Sheraton Street in Stockton. Can anyone help, my beloved  Nana lived in and around Sheraton Street in the 30″s- 40″s her name was Mary Thompson I believe some of her family lived there after she did. I would also love to see a picture of Sheraton street with a full set of houses.
