  1. The name G Garrigan should be G Caraghan Geoff Caraghan, lived in Norton High Street. When leaving school at the Richard Hind he became a River Tees Pilot.

    • bob, the name is Carrigan, his younger brother (tony) was a pal of mine at Stockton Sec.. the family lived near enough next door to the Unicorn (top house), both tony’s elder brothers were Tees pilots

  2. I would say 1955 when I was 17/18 years old. A smoker was held in the Mile House pub. Although just old enough to drink which I was just getting used to. This was for the presentation of medals and cups for that year. The following year I remember beating Spsrks in the League cup on the Victoria ground. It was decided that whoever won the cup invited the other team to the celebrations in the Brunswick pub. I have to mention although I signed on for PH I was not actually a player. I think that I might have played for the reserves a couple of times as a stand in when some one didn’t turn up. Anon, it’s a wonder you didn’t know me in the joiner shop days. I was there from 1953 to Feb 62. At the end of my time there I was with the Dock Gate gang. Talking of Benny, he is still around and I often get on the phone to him. It is really difficult with him as at 92 his hearing is very poor. Probably if I knew your name instead of Anon I probably knew you as you can name the lads I worked with.

  3. What was the three year period you followed Primrose Hill, Bob? – and I do remember Charlie Pickering, a very jovial chap and I knew him very well along with your former work colleagues at Head Wrightsons, Benny the chargehand, Leo Heslop, Blondie, Sam Ferguson and John Hope.

  4. Anon. Can you remember Charlie Pickering playing for Primrose Hill? Prolific inside forward, scoring a lot of goals. He later played for Head Wrightsons and did have a trial at Darlington.

  5. You are right Bob, when you think of goalkeepers present day about 6ft-3ins.,George was only 5ft-7ins and had springs in his feet, he also organised his defence well talking to them all the time and also a good centre half in Jackie Ball in front of him who dealt with everything,one of the best at heading a ball in the area. They both played for the Stockton and District League representative team and stayed loyal to Primrose Hill. They were the good old days at the Norton Showfield in the fifties.

  6. When you think George Sudron was never a goalies build. 9 stone wringing wet but what a masterful player he was. He bossed the goalmouth. I wonder how many league winners medals and league cup medals he had because when I was there over a 3 year period they won both each year.

  7. All the players names are here Benny, another goalkeeper with the name of Sudron I wonder if he was related to the brothers Stan (Northern League goalkeeper) & George the Primrose Hill legend.

  8. Steve Russell was a friend of my late father Vincent [teenie]. I played in the same school team as Steve’s son Anthony who was a good footballer. I also worked briefly with Jack Galloway for press construction in the late 1970’s.

  9. There was a county schoolboys game played on the Victoria Ground in 1956 between Durham & Lancashire. Alf Brockbank, St Bedes School was the Durham goalkeeper. The under 15 Salmon Cup is named after the past chairman.

  10. Im looking into the history of Stockton boys FC and I’ve found this out from the back of one of my dads old programmes that I have ;

    Apparently The Stockton schools FA was formed in 1897. Mainly through the efforts of the past chairman Mr W. A. Salmon.
    Prior to the war quite a number of County games were staged at Stockton and in 1934 they had the honour to have the North v South trial and one of our boys, N Fowler, played and eventually captained England.
    They were a small association of eleven schools but we kept the football league and cup competitions running throughout the war.

    Does anyone know if Stockton boys is still running or anything more on the history ??

  11. What a lovely picture of my uncle Jack (Galloway) he sadly died some years ago but he loved his football, lived in Tilery most of his young days and eventually joined the air force, anyone remember him ? He was a lovely man.

  12. My uncle Leonard Colin Clarke is on the front row (fourth from left was in this picture who, I gathered played for Stockton Boys and once played at Wembly.

  13. My father Stuart Bruce was Captain of this team. They played Leicester City FC ground with a crowd of over 32,000.They also played Ayresome park Ground,Derby County Grounds.
