  1. Great to see this photo I was at Tilery School from 1948. and I remember all the names mentioned in previous comments

  2. I often heard my parents speak of Rex Hazeleton and my dad lived in Spenithorne Rd before moving to Hartburn ave If anyone remembers my parents Barry and Vi Dumble (nee Iceton) and as any stories I would love to hear from them Jan

  3. Rex Hazelton and I grew up together on Grangefield Estate and shared sporting interests. I have sent in a photo of Hartburn Minors FC for scanning. Young Rex is the goalkeeper on that photo. Have also contacted Alic Hazelton.I remember Rex”s brother Bernard.

  4. My grandfather, Henry(Harry) Smith lived in Appleton Road and had a lot to do with Primrose Hill football club, I believe.

  5. Cliff Thornton – In reply to your question, B Hazelton was Bernard Hazelton. He was Rex”s older brother and yes they did live at 7 Spennithorne Road. He also had two older sisters, Vera and Nancy, and my great Aunty Vera died on 27th January, aged 88. We have a lot of photographs of them all in the garden at Spennithorne Road.

    • One of Rex’s sisters was married to young Harold Cryer who was a foreman in the Head Wrightson’s light machine shop, Thornaby.

  7. I attended Tilery infants as well & remember Mr Hazleton, but what is the name of the female teacher? Miss Nicholson was the headmistress – could it be her? The other female teacher”s name I recall was Miss Bonnie, however not sure whether she was from infants or J1.

  8. Re Rex Hazleton – Is this the R.A.Hazleton who is listed as an old boy of the Secondary School in 1948 and lived at 7 Spennithorne Road, Stockton? If so, who was B Hazleton who had an M.A. and lived at the same address – his father or older brother?

  9. I”m not sure how I happened to stumble across this website but I couldn”t believe it when I saw so many photos! Rex was my grandfather whom I never met but I would be most grateful if anyone could e-mail me these photos as we don”t seem to have these particular ones. alicehazelton@hotmail.com Thank you!

  10. The name Rex Hazelton brought back a few memories for me, prompting me to dig out a photograph, a black and white 2×2 print showing the Stockton Secondary School”s first fifteen Rugby team of 1945 for which Rex played scrum half. He and I are pictured sitting on the ground in the front row. I am having a spot of difficulty in transmitting photographs, but when I get the problem sorted out, I will submit it to this site, hopefuly for publication.

  11. I believe that Rex Hazelton was 1st team wicketkeeper for Stockton and also organist for The Presbyterian Church on Yarm Lane. A busy man.

  12. I noticed the teacher on right is Rex Hazelton the ex Stockton,Stockton West End and Primrose Hill goalkeeper.
