  1. As a small child I played in the ‘Chuggy’ and in particular climbing a large spreading tree growing on an island directly outside Holy Trinity church main door. I used to go around the church counting the Mousey Thompson carvings on the doors when I was a toddler. At the time I was living in Bickersteth Street (Parkfield), parallel to Parliament Road, which I think is behind the photographer. (Could be wrong about that)

Most of the gravestones were moved up into one corner of the grounds by the mid fifties when I played there.

Incidentally I learned to ride my first bike on the pathways pictured. Not historically relevant. Apologies for the flight of nostalgia!

  2. Holy Trinity Church yard (the chuggy)my guess is early 60″s or late 50″s. There were lots of grave stone when we played there in the late 40″s.
