Was this in 1977 during the Queen’s Silver Jubilee tour of the UK? I remember watching the yacht from the North Gare come into the Tees in the early morning of a glorious sunny day. It was a beautiful ship, a dark glittering blue hull with a gold sheer line. It was accompanied by two naval escorts. This vessel was a superb advert for all that was best in British tradition, something that counts for so little now.
