The football team at Richard Hind school, the 5th year team in 1962 which only played matches with other schools which had 5th years eg Stockton Grammar School. The teacher in charge was Mr Taylor (Knocker) who taught Religious Knowledge. Photograph and information courtesy of Alan Rowbotham.
Getting older now (76) so looking up old times and places. Came across this post. I’m on the left of Norman (Allen Walker) and played on the left wing. This was great team and some really good footballers. Some also played for the school cricket team. Happy days at Richard Hind. When I left school I went to work for British Road Services in Thornaby before joining the Royal Navy in 1964 as an electronics engineer. After 23 years service in the RN I entered Holy Orders in the Church of England and retired in 2012. Living in Dorset now with my wife Joan and still able to play Five-a-Side every week. What memories.

I see Alan Rowbotham started this post an old school friend. We always seemed to be challenging each other to be top in the Metalwork class. I went on to be Director of Engineering at Yellow Buses in Bournemouth. Now I am retired living in Australia. Sure would be good to hear from old school friends through email. Eddie Todd

I keep seeing Bill Duckling on various football photographs and have been meaning to comment. I worked with Bill for a long time at KP in Billingham until he unfortunately contracted MS and had to take ill health retirement. He was a great guy to work with and it was sad to see such a fit man struck down with this progressive illness.02/03/2012 11:22:34

I played in the Norton C.C.T. team with Bill Duckling & when the going got tough you could rely on Bill being in the thick of it, he was a great guy.

Just found this photo and yes it is David Sinclair in the centre back row. David Shaw in the back row next to the coach. Would be great to catch up with both David’s. I moved to Bournemouth and married Cecilia and in 1987 moved to Australia.01/03/2012 09:43:17

Peter Barron did play for the team, might have been absent from school that day? He went on to become a policeman, and sadly died in his 40s refereeing a football match.

I am sure there is one person missing from the photograph and his name is Peter Barron.

Knocker Taylor was known as that for his habit of going round the class and knocking with his knuckles on any boys head that he thought wasn”t paying attention.

As stated Norman Dougan is in the middle of the front row with the ball between his feet. He lives in Canada and has since shortly after getting married to Babara. Norman is related to me and named after my mother Norma Wilson. Always loved to play football but not as much as his sister Jane Dougan who lives somewhere in Middlesborough.
