  1. I don’t think these steps will be around for much longer as the footbridge is due to be replaced with a new one.

  2. These steps were used by a vast majority of Head Wrightson’s Teasdale workers on their way home via the station or Thornaby.

  3. Aunt Mary Helen lived opposite us in Britannia Street and I have very fond memories of her. I was recently reading wartime letters from Uncle Hadyn Hyde RA written to my sister Mary and he asks “Is Aunt Mary Helen still funny?” I always see her as smiling. I have researched the family tree through the Bonner line if you are interested David.

  4. Anthony Bonner I do believe we are related my Grannie was your Dads or Grandads sister, Mary Helen Addison (Ne Bonner). I am Tommy Addisons son David.

  5. i must have walked those steps a million times going to Heads and going over them to get the Clevo from the embo and back

  6. “Thornaby Station Steps” were my first steps to an education.  Living “Down Below The Railway” meant crossing them everyday on my way to St Pats.

    • I believe we were in the same class – Vivien Green – Mrs Gaynors granddaughter from Brittania street. I am researching family history and trying to collect old photos. Your pictures are excellent. If you have any school photos or would like to get in touch, please email Picture Stockton and they will pass along my email address. Thanks.
