  1. The single garage to the right of Hauxwells was owned by Mr Mawlam, he lived at 19 Bentley Wynd with his wife and disabled sister, and worked as a sweet salesman.

  2. Dave Hughes used to live at Willey flats before he bought Yarm police station, he had a builders yard at Yarm old station. I used to do electrical work for him when I used to work at Cartmell electrics, had known him for over 50 years.

  3. My cousin David Hughes, who was a buider in Yarm area for a lot of years, lived in the Old Police Station for a number of years. While he was living there he re-found a very old well in the garden which he cleaned up and made safe by building a wall around it. He moved up the bank to a bungalow and died a few years ago.

  4. The building above used to be Yarm police station, the cell window bars still visible, then it was closed and police moved to the old drill hall on High Church Wynd.

  5. Hauxwells Engineering had this building, they did a lot of work for Crosleys brickworks at Durham Lane. Cotham stob works also work for the skinyard welding fabrication turning ect. Tony Bradley was the last person to own the firm before retiring then it was sold off and turned into flats.

    • Tony Bradley was my Grandad, I’ve just come across these photos and they are great! He passed away in 1989, however his wife, my grandmother Sheila is still alive and living in Ingleby Barwick if anyone would like to catch up with her let me know.
