  1. British Titan Products Company Ran a first class Junior sports day in the fifties I remember they gave money for the winners. I ran many times in these sports days and got a nice sum of pocket money each year. I remember running against Tommy Hooper who was a well known footballer in later years, Tommy went on to work at British Titan products after leaving School. Another local footballer who worked at British Titan was Barry Geldard who worked in the office. All this sponsorship of local Sports is now no more, with the demise of all of the local Engineering and Chemical Companies on Teesside. Has anyone taken up the slack left by these very generous companies in sports sponsorship, by providing facilities and organizations to run the local sports?

    • Two players I played on the same departmental team with when I was at Davy United were David Brown, of the legendary 1960 Stockton Boys team, and Alan Kennerley, who I believe played for Whitby town.

  2. “Ladies Clothes Peg Race” – At some church fetes there was a clothes line with a number of clothes pegs spaced along it. The competitor had to collect as many pegs as possible using one hand and holding those collected in the other. As soon a peg was dropped (out of either hand) the competitor stopped. The winner was the person who held the most pegs either without dropping any or when one was dropped

  3. This programme is for a British Titan sports day in 1958. In addition to the athletic events there were the usual fun events, but I am wondering what was the ladies “Clothes Peg Race” ?
