A class photograph of the pupils of Form 4R at Grangefield Grammar School, Stockton. Taken in 1956 the photograph shows a number of boys who appear on an earlier picture of Holy Trinity School before they passed the 11-plus exam. Photograph courtesy of Mr Brian Leak.
Thats correct. Is Edwin Black still in Whitby, I remember that we were in the same class in Mill Lane Infant school.

Is the Malcolm Beaver in this photo another one of the sons of Malcolm Beaver who was the Headmaster of Newham Grange School?23/05/2012 12:32:59
Edwin Black, thats a blast from the past, we all attended Newtown School together. I wonder if he can remember what they called the street that St John’s Hall was in, leading to the Gasworks bridge.
Intriguing! Those chaps still with us are now aged 67. For the record, Edwin Black has retired happily to Whitby.
Front row the unknown is Joe Evis.
When I saw the photo posted by Neil Pallister of Holy Trinity Boys it jogged my memory as a number of the boys in that photo went on to Grangefield Grammar. The photo attached is of form 4R at Grangefield in 1956 (I think). Front Row ?, Jim Fox, Colin Quinn, Fred Kidd*, Arch Berry, Les Wanless, me (Brian Leak), Edwin Black, Neil Pallister*, Hardy. Dickenson –Second Row- Rick Smith, Peter “Wog” Atkinson, Tony Lewis,Malcolm Beaver,Ivor Harley, Harry Locksley,Simpson,Bob Bese Malcolm Danby*, Pritchard, Hughes*,Harry Vanes,Jim Kelman. – Back Row- Chamberlin,Ken Hodgson,Chris Liddle,John Gregory,Ian Sanderson.George Rowden,Mick Newton*. Besides those asterisked that are in the Holy Trinity photo I am sure that there are a few more in both photos as ex Holy Trinity made up a large part of the Grangefield intake.
Arch Berry went to Richard Hind juniors with me. We used to walk or cycle to school every day from Parkfield. He almost cut his big toe off chopping wood at scout camp and was in plaster for weeks but we still walked to school together more slowly!
