Sorry to see the sad passing of David Clarke with the ball in this photo, he was the youngest of the Primrose Hill Clarke brothers who were all sportsmen. R.I.P. Dave.
Hi
I’m Alex Greaves. I was in the a sream. I now live in retirement in France, the bresse area, with my wife of 52 years. We have 4 children. Our son lives nearby with his french wife. Our 2 daughters live in Billingham and one in Pateley Bridge. We have 9 grand children.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone in 4a.
bye for now
Alex
It is great to see a retired Stockton schoolteacher, Malcolm Danby, in the New Years Honours List with an M.B.E.,he is secretary of the Cleveland Schools F.A. and has promoted young footballing talent across Teesside for more than forty years.
The licencee of the Gas Hotel Albert Dobson’s wife was called Florrie, their daughter was called Jean who later with her husband Terry Anderson became licencees of the Board Inn, Bishopton Lane & the Stork Hotel(formally the Robson Maternity).
Please may I answer Len Nicholson”s question about where are the rest… I am in the back row between Malcolm Heath and Keith Barker. I now live in Epsom, Surrey, and work for the London Borough of Sutton as a road safety officer. I would love to hear from any of the Newham Grange Old Boys & Girls. My details are with Picture-Stockton who will forward any enquiries. Does anyone know what happened to the Head Master, Mr John Malcolm Beaver?
The little lad 2nd left front row Simon Rodgers was only at the school about a year,he came from the Redcar area & was the nephew of the licencees Albert & Jean Dobson of the Gas Hotel in Langley Street, where he lived while at Newham Grange School.
Newham Grange were one of the few schools at the time, that had their own football field in the school grounds, other schools Tilery & Bailey Street played at Tilery Rec.,Oxbridge,Bowesfield Lane,Mill Lane & Holy Trinity played at Grosvenor Road,Thornaby schools played at Littleboy Park,St Bedes at Newham Grange Park,Frederick Nattress at Blue Hall Rec.& Richard Hind at Ropner Playing Field,Fairfield. All with poor changing facilities.
I often wonder what happened to Mr Winton the Sports Master,he left the school & the area that year,he was an excellent teacher. The players where are they now,Stan Hind lives in Cyprus,John McNaughton & Dennis Morris are in Australia, Malcolm Heath,Len Nicholson,David Clark,Ian McClean,Keith Barker & Brian Lonsdale are still in the Stockton area, where are the rest.

Yes Alex, you have moved a long way from the Harrowgate Lane farm where you were brought up, did you go into farming for a living?

John McNaughton in this photo was the lead singer in the local pop & rock & roll band Johnnie & The Blue Caps.
