My Mum taught the reception class at Newtown infants. Her name was Margaret Shepherd and she is in all of these photos. I remember Mrs. Glasswell the head mistress and also remember some of the other teachers in the pictures. This was quite a surprise to stumble across these memories. Thank you!
Mrs Shepherd is the first teacher I remember. Always wore coloured tights. I remember asking her why, she said she liked to change her legs. I was very convinced as a small child that when she went home she took her legs off and had LOADS ON THE WALL , to swap the colours with🤦🏼♀️, still makes me chuckle now. Was my favourite teacher, even remember her looking after me when I got the mumps, till I was picked up xxx
The staff at Newtown Infants School in 1988. The head teacher at the time was Mrs Jean Glasswell, my mother in law. She is pictured in the middle of the front row. She became head in around 1965 until she retired shortly after this photograph was taken. She may be known to many as Mrs Jean Thompson. She also taught at Oxbridge Infants school in the late 1940″s when she was then Miss Jean Stoddart.
Hello Katherine. You must be married to Anthony her son.
She married Raymond Glasswell- my Grandfather. I have lots of happy memories of Auntie Jean.
It would be lovely to be more in contact with you off of here.
Kind regards Alison Burchell nee Dunning
