I remember it well! It was fascinating to watch the shunting operations – by gravity as well! People would have a fit these days!
I remember the yard being liberally coated with broken bricks, which presumably, built up over the years as a result of careless handling by the unloaders.
To Peter Newell. It definately was The London Brick Company. I can remember watching the wagons being unloaded as a child. I have an old postcard of the station I”ll try to find it and post it on this site.

A May, 1978 view of the old goods yard at Billingham after services had been withdrawn, and the wild flowers had moved in. Today this area is housing – a small estate called “The Pines” (not “The Lines”!) At one time the yard was full of shock absorbing wagons that delivered bricks to Billingham
