R.A.F Thornaby held Battle of Britain air-displays every September as did many other stations untll the stand down of 608 Squadron in 1956. Aircraft from Canada, United States and European countries were on the ground or flying display B 29 (Superfortress) C 117 (Packets) ( Canadair “Sabres” to name a few Pre 1939 Stations held “Empire Air Disply” Day
