  1. I am in the back row on the far right. Fourth from the left in the middle row is I think Sandra Brown(e). My best friend was Edward Edwards but my memory is failing to pick him out.

  2. How lovely to hear where Norma is now living. I remember her so very well and was a hairdresser with Diane Pinckney for a while. My mam worked in the shop downstairs which was Smiths cleaners if I remember rightly, her name was Jean Bibbings. I hope she is keeping well and still enjoying life in Australia and send best wishes to her, so lovely to know about her

  3. Hi Sandra, I hope you dont mind but I have been sent from a friend the photo of the class of 1955 Freddy Nat. You mentioned my name (Joan Breeze) not sure if I am on that photo, what was your maiden name and can you put names to faces on the photo?
I would love to hear from you, I can remember all the names you mentioned. I also remember Harry Wilson, Robert Lonsdale, Steven Corrine, Linda Robson and Barbara Brown. Mr Thompson was my last teacher before William Newton, Miss Nicholson was Headmisstress when I was there. I hope to hear from you … Sandra x

    • Hello Joan, please accept my apologies, I have only today seen your comments about Freddy Nat. I live in Cheltenham now, 10 years but I still manage to get up “home” as often as I can to see my family and my old friends. Like you Mr Thompson was my last teacher before William Newton. I really can’t make out who is who, but found myself. There was Robin Greathead, Alan Topp, Paul Jones, George Sedgewick, Norma Johnson, Beryl White. Miss Nicholson Headmistress but I also remember Mr Moreland who gave me the cane for swinging on the cloakroom bars, also the cane off Miss Dowse for swapping maths books with Billy Cassidy, she caned us both. My maiden name was Bibbings Joan and Ian is my brother. You have my permission to ask for my email address from this site. If you can spare time it would be lovely to hear from you! Regards Sandra

  4. I Went to Frederick Nattrass, I was born in 1948 making me now coming up to 67 yrs old. I can remember a few names from the junior school where I was taught by Miss Bolt ,Miss Dowse and Mr Thompson, who was our final teacher before going on to William Newton school. I remember Beryl White, Norma Johnson, Joan Breeze, Alan Topp, Derek Prosser, Harry Black, Robin Greathead, Billy Cassidy, Brenda Perks, George Sedgewick plus many more. I vividly remember getting the cane along with Billy Cassidy for swapping our maths book after having been caught by Miss Dowse and by could she use it, didn’t dare tell my dad or I would have had another smack off him. I have to say it did not do me any harm either, the teachers word was law.

    • S Hyatt. I left the FN in 1949 and Miss Dowse was my teacher in the top class scholarship year. She was ancient then and I couldn’t imagine her there 10 years after me leaving.

      • I tell you Bob she could really handle that cane of hers, my hands stung for days. I also remember getting the cane off the headmaster, he took over from Miss Nicholson but his name eludes me. He caught me swinging from one to the other on the cloakroom coat rail bars. It may have been a Mr Moreland. The teacher I remember most was Miss Fisher as she taught every member of my family, when in her class the very first day she said “not another one”, little did she know that my younger brother was to follow 3 years later.
