This photograph was taken at Thompsons Red Stamp Store although it is not clear whether it was at the Stockton branch at Maxwell’s Corner near the Globe, or at the Middlesborough shop that stood where the new bus station is. The picture shows Olive Davis, the Mother of Trevor Davis, who was manageress for a number of years.
Hi all, Can someone tell me what year this pic was taken please?. Thank you for any help.
Trevor your dad & Joe Gales used to be regulars in the buffet lounge in the Maple Hotel in the sixties & seventies, some of the other regulars were Peter Clarke, Les Sands, Peter Truby, Tony Bulmer, Dick Savage, Fred
Reynolds, old & young Jack Laws, Ted Amos & Albert Wilson. The Maple Hotel was a good pub in those days, the first landlord was big Fred Dodds & then Tommy Coates, a shame it is now razed to the ground.
Yes I am indeed the same lad, only a good bit older now. I now live in France and still rocking. The group was the Satellites with Peter Cuthbert, Frank Garvey and Ronnie Moore. You can find more on that subject at vintagesixtieslive.com
This is my aunt Olive, my mothers sister, and I should think it was the Stockton shop she worked at as people didn’t travel that far to work in those days. Her son Trevor is my cousin and he emailed me today to say he would be in the UK from the 14th Oct for two weeks so anybody wanting to see him now is your chance ,he lives in France now with his wife Dorothy. The things that turn up on this site are amazing.
Hi Sheila, Could you give me a rough year of when this pic was taken please? researching possible links to my Fathers past. Thanks for any help
The lady in the photo lived in Hawthorne Road & had a son who was in a rock n roll group with a lad called Jarret from Ragworth.
