Hi Christine Harrop here. I would love to be in contact with Lauren Bentley who was my best friend in RH till she moved to London after her father remarried. Has anyone any info on her? It’s great to se the photo which I have somewhere too. Amazing to know all the names, who was the teacher? I remember a Judith Elstob did she come later?
To Paula, Sandra King (my aunty) lived at 39 Adderley street, with her sister Josie, and my nanna and grandad, Dorothy and George King. Pat, Sandra did marry Ted, who sadly passed away a few years ago. They have 4 children 2 girls and 2 boys. They moved from Elton to Northallerton, in the country side for Sandra’s benefit. But after Ted’s death, Sandra had to move back to the Stockton area to be cared for. Sadly, Sandra is in very poor health. By all means if you would like to get in touch, you can contact me at picture stockton who will supply you with my e-mail address.
I don’t think this Sandra can be your mother Sherry. I remember the Sandra King in the photo very well, she was one of my good friends at school. Her birthday was the day after mine September 3rd 1945, when we started Richard Hind she thought she would be the oldest in the class, but I beat her as mine was the 2nd! She lived in Adderley Street, just behind the school going towards Bowesfield Lane. Think she had an older sister, the name Josie rings a bell for some reason. After school she married Ted Trainor and had three children, two girls and a boy, think the oldest girl was called Carol and the boy Ted, but do not remember a Sherry. They lived on Dunedin Avenue at Hartburn during the 60/70s, and then moved to Elton village. I tried to get in touch with her for a reunion about 5 years ago and was told she had moved abroad, then I remember reading Ted’s death notice in the Gazette a few years ago.
Pamela there must be a photo of your year group somewhere out there as the only photographs taken in 1st and 2nd years was of whole classes, someone may see the site from your year and post it on. I have both 1959 and 1960 for my class which I posted on the site a while ago.
Yes Dorothy Butler, you are right. As Pamela Thomas I did live in Roseworth. It’s strange, but I have looked before for some school photos, but have never come across any of my year. I’m not sure if any were taken as a group.
Hello Pamela Grantham you must be the Pamela Thomas I remember, I started in 1959 year below you. Did you live at Roseworth or around Durham Road area?
Pamela Grantham – you must be the one Dorothy Butler (nee Wright) remembers, you were not in the same year as me, I definitely started in 1957. I remember Christine Teasdale and Carolyn Johnson were in the year below.
I think I am the Pamela Thomas being mentioned although I did not start till 1958. Some of the names I recognise and were in the year above me. I was in the year of Margaret Cooper, Christine Teasdale and Carolyn Johnson, to name a few.
My name is now Pamela Grantham
Sorry Dorothy, I didn’t realise there was another. Our Pam is 56ish now I think, although I daren’t remind her of this fact. She always speaks fondly of her time at the school. She used to live in Nelson Street of the town.
No it isn’t Pamela Thomas, Dorothy.
Pamela is my cousin and now lives in France. She became a professional dancer/singer and is now very popular on French Television and Radio. She was born in 1953 so would be to young for this class photo.
No, the name Thomas does not ring a bell. We had a Pat Thomas and also Angela Thomas, my best friend. Jim, I am not surprised you had a crush on Lauren Bentley, she was gorgeous, very dark flashing eyes and dark curly hair, looked a bit like Gina Lollobrigida the film star. I think her mother named her for Lauren Bacall, another big star name at the time. Funny how lots of children were named for film stars, bit like calling your children after celebrities now really! There were six “Pats” in our year, presumably named for Patricia Roc, who starred in a lot of wartime films. I never liked the name myself.
Lauren Bentley, in this picture, lived in the next street to me in Parkfield. When I was a kid I had an enormous crush on her and would go out of my way to pass by her street hoping to bump into her, which I did on the odd memorable occasion. However, being the shy kid I was I never once spoke to her!

obviously not the same Pamela Thomas, Keith. The one I refer to is older than me, I was at Richard Hind from 1959 to 1964.

Would the “Pamela?” on second row from front be Pamela Thomas?
