  1. I think the young fella 3rd row from front, 2nd in from left, as we look at the photo, is my father, Wallace Palmer (blonde hair, head slightly cocked to his left). He’s still here! 82 years old, and 83 on 29th April 2012. If this was a new intake, the boys would have been 7 years old which would be correct as my father was born in 1929. Ma Allen also taught me when I joined HT in 1963. He’s been married to Olga (nee Shaw) for more than my 55 years. Both are still independent and probably in love with each other!

  2. I attended Miss Allans class in 1944. When food was reappearing back in the shops after the u boat menace was removed the Atlantic. Miss Allan brought an almost black banana to school and managed to cut it into forty five pieces so we had a taste each. What a heroine! She is wonderfully pretty, mind you I had a bit of a crush even at eight.

  3. Here for J Norman Kidd’s memory is the photo of Miss Allan’s class he refers to elsewhere about the Army Cadets and the bands. No mention of Ronnie Haslock as he attended Oxbridge Lane until he was 11. On Oxbridge Lane photos Ronnie wrote: “I attended Oxbridge Lane School until the plus 11 exams, and that would be in 1938.”
Did the name happen to be Haswell by chance? A near Oulston Road neighbour he was a contemporary of my brother at Richard Hind. A good runner.
