Just came across this. My dad was Malcolm Flounders pictured. He passed away on Dec 23rd 2008. His sister was Janet Flounders and brother Kenneth. Cousins Ned, Neville, Noel and Karen (All emigrated to Australia).
I keep seeing posts regarding him being the brother of Marylin Flounders? As far as i am aware we have never had a Marylin in our family, well definitely not immediate.
Is there any way i can obtain copies of these photos?
Hi Mike, Marilyn is my sister and our dad was Tommy, his brothers were Mel and Ken and Mel who passed recently emigrated to Australia with sons Neville, Neil and daughter Karen.
Would be nice to talk and I can show you the family tree.
I can’t believe how small Eddie looks on the photo. I first met him about two years after this was taken and he was around 6 foot. I witnessed his knee cap come out one sunday morning when he was playing for the Mile House in Newham Grange park.
Eddie Duckling 7th from the left back-row became a well known local footballer, he was at Newcastle United as a junior but a bad knee injury cut that short. He later played for Norton C.C.T. but his kneecap used to come out similar to Charlie Helyer’s injury. Eddie is the younger brother of Billy Duckling.
Yes, you were in this class Craig, as you say must have been off that day. I’ve been reading your other posts; pretty impressive memory for names from all those years ago. Very nostalgic.
I think I can put a few names to the faces. Back: Lynn Pritchard, Chris Corner, Alan Ramsey, Michael Newbold, Eddie Duckling. Front: ?, Heather Horsefield (don’t think it’s Janice), Catherine Philips, ?, Pauline Earl, Porky, Susan ?, ?, ?. I must have been off that day for some reason, I’m certain I was in that class.
Hi David, to be honest I can’t remember. I do recall one or two faces but not those you ask about. I thought the tall girl next to Mr York might be Lauren Davies and the girl next to her could be called Penny?? Not much help I know but it was a long time ago.
Hello Janice,
I remembered there was a Janice in the class, but got the wrong person, apologies! Was the girl next to you that I have called Janice, called Janet? And on your left, is that Brenda Pollard?
I believe that’s me second from the left on the front row. My name was Bell then. I was only at the school for 2 years and then moved to Thornaby and a new school. I now live in the south and have done so for a number of years, but still have fond memories of Blakeston Comprehensive.
