  1. I went to this school from 1977 till 1982 we use to live in Redbrook Avenue I had good memories from that time. And I still have the commemorative mug we all got to celebrate the schools 50th anniversary.

  2. I was surprised to find this photo, I remember being on the school trip, and my sister Susan is certainly on the photo, but the person attributed as being me isn’t actually me. I think I was hiding somewhere. I remember a few of the names and people listed, but not all of them. I do remember Mrs Estensen, Mr Gardner, Mrs Goldthorpe and Mr Brown (headmaster), and remember him bringing crates of apples into school from his own orchard. Would also agree, great school, happy memories (if a little blurred)

  3. Some of the names missing Anthony Spacey (me), but I cant see me on the picture unless it’s me on the back row next to George Betts, if not it’s Colin Raper. Maggie Stott is next to Nigel Basford, Brian Elkin is next to Linda Littlefair, Stephen Mcandrew is next to Mrs Estinsen. I think it is Jean Hillerby front row sitting, she was the tallest girl in the class. Pat Duggan (deceased) is the girl second right on bottom row. I think its Anthony Mills back row far right. After having a further look, it may be me two left from Peter Dixon as I was only small them days, (still am now so no change then).

  4. I too remember Mr Scroggie and the school trip with the dagger down his sock! He never taught me though – I think he was there for a year after Mr Dack left and Mr Gardiner started. It was always a man teaching the ‘top’ class for some reason. I also went to Darlington with a country dance team – on Picture Stockton there is a photograph of our team (www.picturestockton.co.uk/viewpage.aspx?id=5118)

  5. I attended Redbrook around 57/59 after spending a year freezing to death in Kiora huts. I remember Mrs Estenson well, she tried to turn us into a country dancing team and sent us to a big competition in Darlington, she told us we had to smile all the time we were dancing to get extra points but I think they were the only points we got because we came last. I also remember a teacher who came for 1 year only called Mr Scroggie (HONEST) he was Scottish and turned up for the annual school trip wearing full Scottish gear including a big dagger stuck down his sock – we were well impressed. He would most probably get locked up now!

  6. I have studied this photograph since it was posted and yes, after much looking, that is my son Michael Mee back row second from the right apparently standing in a hole between the other two lads. The reason it took a while is he never liked his photo being taken, we do not have this one so he probably never told us it had been taken, I had to blow it up and make sure. Michael, after a short period in a garage, went to ICI and worked there through a couple of take overs until he retired early last year. He now lives in Appleton Wiske.

  7. I emailed my sister, Lesley, in Canada and she thought that perhaps the girl 2nd from left front row may be Pamela Walker?

  8. I wonder if that is the same Kenny Jones who lived in Sydney Street. I lived in the next street which was Milbank – we where good friends.

  9. Mrs Estensen taught me in 1959-60. She used to arrive in a little 3 wheeled car, either red or orange in colour. Her husband dropped her off at school and I remember Elizabeth sitting in the back on her way to school. Other teachers at Redbrook at that time were Class 1 – Mr Gardiner, Class 2 – Mrs Estensen, Class 3 – Mrs Evans, Class 4 – Miss Wicks, Class 5 – Miss/Mrs Wynn, Class 6 – Mrs Summers and Class 7 – Mrs Goldthorpe. The headmaster was Mr L Brown. Great school and really happy memories.

    • I remember you Lynda, I went to school with Lesley, we are back in touch after about forty years. Redbrook was a wonderful school. I can remember you taking Jellies from your house on trays for the class Christmas party.

  10. Alan Basford, along with twins Eileen and Kathleen Leggett lived in Rettenden Close, as did Peter Dixon. Miss Estensen used to arrive at School in a three wheeler car.

  11. I had Mrs Estenson at Redbrook, about 1968 I think – we were in the wooden? hut – I spent a lot a time in the courner for talking! I also remember a lady teacher that had the bungalow up the hill in Thorpe Thewels.

  12. Teacher centre at the back is Mrs Estenson (her daughter Elizabeth Estenson was in the Liver Birds, Bread and currently stars in Emmerdale).
Standing up far left is Susan collinson. Front row sitting from left is Pat Smith, —-? Alan Basford, Lynn Pattison, Raymond Nicholson, —–?,—-?,Eileen Leggett, Susan Pattison, —-?, —-?, Middle row from left June McKenzie,Paul Latham ,Glynis —?, Ann Morgan, Myself (Liz Hindmarsh), Gillian Pollard, next one just behind could be Kathleen Leggett, Linda Littlefair, —-?, boy standing possibly Kevin —? Back row from left behind June is I think George Betts, the one behind and the next four I am not sure of . Peter Dixon is left of Mrs Estensen, next one I’m not sure of, then Stephen —??, Michael Mee, —-?
Could anyone fill in the blanks or correct me on any I’ve got wrong.
