This is a photograph of St Pauls Church on Bishopton Road taken by Colin Booth in 2009.
I understand that these premises are now shared with the Newtown Methodist Church whose old building just down the road is now empty and in a shabby state of repair. As an old member of the Methodist congregation I can well imagine that the present-day congregation has welcomed the move to these modern comfortable surroundings. Sadly the wonderful old organ has been left in the old Methodist Church to rot away having being stripped of parts to service another organ. The old organ was taken to Newtown from Paradise Row some 60 years ago. What a way to end its days.
I was married here in 1979. The vicar was ? Reverend Cartwright. Newham Grange School held their Christmas carol service here too.
