I was at Tilery School when Harry Rigg was headmaster and George Kennedy. Now live in Melbourne Australia since 1981.
Am sure I shared the photograph with Brian Clough in few weeks ago.
Can any one remember about 1961-62 when we lads of Tilery boys had our interhouse swimming competition at Billingham baths? We all had our photo taken with the late Brian Clough, I’ve searched for years for a copy of that photo. I was recently told by a lad in my class who married my cousin that he had a copy, I’ve asked for a loan to copy but not heard back yet, does any one else have this photo? I would love a copy.
The boy back-row 4th from right is Kenny (Cob) O’brien.
Ken O’Brian as every knew him as KOB. He worked at Hills door factory until the closing in 1997. He was in charge of the Yard Gang. They helped out with the maintenance work.
Kenny (Kob) O’Brien & Hedley Baker were Gashouse lads.
Mr Griffiths was my grandfather.
The teacher on the left is Mr Wathan, he was the best at the school. I’m seventh from the left.
Tony Adams is my cousin he lived at 10 Nicholson St with his Gran, Agnes Casey. Her daughter Rita is my mam.
Jack Adams was a mate of the late Tony Brown who lived in Derwent Street in Norton, before Tony moved to a boarding house in Whitby.
Are you any relation to Tony Adams who lived in portrack, Jack? For some reason I also knew him as Tony Casey. Also, Don Taylor, are you one of the Taylors who lived in Nicholson Street in Portrack?
Can anyone remember the name of the master on the left, as I remember he was a nice guy and I think he lived on Hartburn lane.

I think Mr Griffiths was the headmaster and before he went to Tilery he was a teacher at Richard Hind, his nickname was Piggy Griffiths.
You’re right Jack, it is Mr (Piggy) Griffiths. A headmaster and a real gent.
The boy 2nd from right back row is Hedley Barker, he later went to Richard Hind.
Next to Hedley Barker, at the end of the row, is Gordon White, both school friends of mine at Richard Hind.
I am on the end of the middle row on the right next to Mr Griffiths, at least I think that was his name.
