  1. So glad to see this photo. My mother was Glenda Smart who has since passed away and I do not have any photos of her when she was young. Many thanks to whoever posted the photo.

  2. Delighted to find Malcolm Madden in this photo – if it’s the same guy he lived in Orchard Road, off Thornaby Green. I was in the 2nd Thornaby (Salvation Army) Scouts with him and persuaded him to come with me on a camping trip to Ireland with me in 1955. Can anyone tell me what became of him?

    • Malcolm lived two doors from me when he was married. He also went to Salvation Army scouts with my late husband Tony. Unfortunately Malcolm also passed away over 20 years ago whilst working abroad. I am still in Facebook contact with his wife and step daughter.

  3. The late Derek (Smudge) Smith 3rd from right back-row was a turner at Head Wrightsons Thornaby machine shop before going to America along with colleagues out of the machine shop John(Titch)Alderton, Alan Mockler, George Outhwaite, Edgar Fellows & their families. John Alderton & Edgar Fellows came back later & both worked at Harkers Engineering.
