Can anyone identify which school this emblem belongs to?
Many of the elements of this design can be found in the coat of arms of the University of Teesside. The current university arose out of Teesside Polytechnic, which itself was formed from the Constantine College in Middlesbrough.
As the latter college opened in 1930, this could be a possibility for Bill Gowland.
I would be grateful if anyone can tell me which school this emblem belongs to, or give me any information about John William Gowland (Bill) who was born in 1912, attended the school in question and later worked as a draughtsman at Head Wrightson in Thornaby.
