Penley Dee

This is a photo of ‘Penley Dee’ on the corner of Shaftsbury St. c.1920. This was the house of my g.g.Grandfather Thomas Duncan Devereux lived in until his death in 1927.  Photograph and details courtesy of Ian Devereux.

  1. Me and my mam lived in the top floor flat from 1988-1990. Still had original fixtures and sash windows etc. Fire places had been taken out. Sloping ceilings with beams being on the top floor we had access to the large loft hatch. But we never managed to get up there.

  2. Hi I live in Penley Dee now and I believe there is a ghost here. It is not negative at all and I quite like having it here but wondered if anyone knows anything about this house or has any idea who/whT it could be or any history of the house. I would love to know what the original layout of the house was. I am also interested in any history of the property. Thanks for your time. Terri

  3. This house was on the corner of Shaftesbury St and Westbourne St. I remember working on it when it was being turned into flats in 1977
