Can anyone tell me the names of the people in the Mill Lane football team in 1952 to 1953 please and if there was a John Grey in the team?
Does anyone have any more photos taken during that time?
Captain with the ball is Brian Fletcher and Alan Hare is on the right end. John Grey may be back row second from left. The other posts appear to be correct also and I was always known as Mish Marshall.
I am back row third from the left in the 1952 team, I also played in the 1951 team – front row on right end – and was captain of the 1953 team (will have to dig out a photo) so I was probably unique to have played for three years in the team.
Gave up soccer when I went to Grangefield Grammar. I lived in Bute Street at that time but have lived in Australia since 1971 – now on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
In the 1953-54 team the boy who you say might be John Grey, is down as John Ellis.
The big lad at the back centre is Alan Hall. Front Row right is Lol Broadbent.
The big lad in the middle of the back-row was called Hall. He was a good athlete for Richard Hind School: back-row 2nd right is Dave Pitchford & front-row right is Broadbent.
I think the boy 1st left back row is Andrew Dunning ?
It is Andrew Dunning on the left, back-row, he was a paper boy at Pop Fords in Bishopton Lane on the corner of Inkerman Street.
