May 1978, view of the old goods yard at Billingham after services had been withdrawn, and the wild flowers had moved in. Today this area is housing – a small estate called ‘The Pines’ (not ‘The Lines’!). At one time the yard was full of shock absorbing wagons that delivered bricks to Billingham.

The building to the right is The Station pub and it’s still standing. The railway station used to be opposite it, just past the footbridge.
