Postcard of Stockton High Street c1900s

A postcard sent to Miss Wood of Starbeck, Harrogate. The postcard shows the North End of Stockton High Street taken from theTown Hall. With the King George V, half penny postage stamp, would this poscard have been sent sometime between 1910-1936?

The postcard reads, ‘…You will be overjoyed to receive this from me no doubt. I thought it woud be a little surprise. You will see by this it is quite a busy place, not at all like aristocratic Har..’

  1. The rate for a postcard increased to one penny on 3rd June 1918, so we can be reasonably certain that this card was posted in the 1910s.

  2. Yes, the date could be 15th November, 13th or 15th so before World War 1. I believe the trams disappeared in 1926 or thereabouts…

  3. It looks to be sometime in the 1910s. The postmark is clearly 15 NOV 1x, but what is the ‘x’? It looks to me like a 3 or a 5.
