Are you sure this is 1986? The cars would suggest its early 1980s to me, and I think Hinton’s was long-gone by then, replaced by Presto.
It could be 1986 – Argyll Foods didn’t start rebranding to Presto until 1985, so the smaller stores would probably have been the last to change over. Although I seem to remember that there was already a Presto in Yarm, and the Hinton’s store closed rather than be rebranded – that said, it was a while ago now (!) and I may not be remembering correctly!
All these shops have gone now, with the exception of the bookies, methinks?
