Here are two photographs of corporation wharf they are dated 1957. The men don’t look like they work there, I wonder if they’re just passing time! I don’t think you could get this close at say, Teesport these days.

Fantastic photographs, that seem to underline the importance of the one-time prosperous industrial and shipping activity provided for the town of Stockton, by the river Tees. These days, any young person standing on say, Victoria Bridge, would definitely struggle to even imagine, how this section of both riverbanks, so close to the High Street looked, smelled or even sounded like, a mere 50+ years ago.
