A photograph of 12, Harland Place, High Street, Norton. It was once a former Motor-vehicle garage (at rear), Auction Rooms and Estate Agents, Antiques shop and Tearoom, it is now a successful restaurant and bar.These properties had long gardens to the rear which were cut across by the new Stockton-Billingham (A19) link road early in the 20th century. The wall to the stabling facilities to the original ‘Red Lion’ pub, can just be seen on the left. These became a concert-room / function room annexe to the pub facility.The Catherine Duell, chiropodists practice, next door, still has a very attractive mosaic inlay to the shop entry recess, dating from when the premises was a high-quality ladies millinery shop for Norton.
