  1. Lockwoods was the shop for shoes they had some good quality shoes in their sales. Long gone are these quality of shops.

  2. I can’t remember Silver Street looking so run down. Someone did a good job of saving this row of shops, much smarter these days. Shame the same effort hasn’t been extended to where the Coral shop is and other areas around the High Street. Lets hope the current attitude of trying to keep what history remains can continue.

  3. School shoe shop – Clark’s t-bar that could be built up at the orthopaedic hospital – only change each year was if you got black or brown! That was up to 1980 when I left school but my mum took my son born 1992 there for his first pair of shoes – she always said good fitting shoes were important and she was right after wearing fashion shoes I am now back to quality comfortable flat footwear – echo not Clark’s now though!
