Billingham Town Centre c1970

t5311We believe this photograph of Billingham Town Centre was taken c1970. Many people may remember visiting Hill’s Bakers, Mac Fisheries and Timothy White’s Wholefood stores…

  1. That was in the days when Billingham was a thriving little modern town. Pity to see that is now like a ghost town, at least the last time I was there 2011. Now living in Canada.

  2. We used to go to Hills bakery during our lunch break from Billingham tech. Their mini pork pies were the best.

  3. Let’s hope that we are getting back to the Billingham glory days now that the refurbishment has started!

  4. Ahhhhh, lots of memories from the early 70’s looking at this pic, can remember most of those stores, also Liptons grocers further up from left of picture. I remember Finlays and trying to picture exactly where it was… would love it if anyone has pics of the outside and inside of Finlays – so many memories of Saturdays spent sitting with a cup of coffee for hours on end listening to the jukebox at the tables. It was THE hangout place for the young teens in those days!
