Billingham Library Staff c1950s

t12968‘From 1948 to 1954, I worked in the summer holidays in the Billingham Branch of what was then Durham County Library, covering a period which started during my last years at Stockton Grammar School and went into my college years at Durham. My position was of course, as a humble ‘holiday relief’ and my time was taken up with the ordinary counter work. I found it fascinating and enjoyable…’ Harry Lee, 1998.

  1. At that time I was at the library a lot but can’t remember any of the faces. I know you could never talk in the library. All the books were bound in red leather.
