My friend moved to this pub in early 80’s, we were friends at Fleetham Street Junior School in Middlesbrough, her parents had the Masham in Middlesbrough then moved to Stockton, her name was Lynn. I wonder how long they had the pub for?
My biological father had the Masham in Hartburn and the Masham in Middlesbrough a little later I believe. I think he had 3 daughters with his second wife, I’ve been looking for them.
My biological father had this pub, his name was Dennis Britton, I do believe he had 3 more children in his second marriage and I’ve been trying to find them. Could you help? The Picture Stockton team – pictures@stockton.gov.uk will pass on my email if you’d like to get in touch.
Ernie Lancaster would have been the Landlord at the time of the photograph. He was also President of the local Licensed Victuallers Association. He was a very popular landlord with the locals and was missed when he left to run The Briar Dene pub in Whitley Bay in about 1977.
I agree Dave a nice little pub,but I remember the last time I was in there about seven years ago when we were leaving at the end of the night two guys were fighting at the front door,we pushed them to one side so we could leave & they just carried on.

Sorry, it was in the 70’s when they left the pub
My Uncle had the Masham in Middlesbrough in the 70’s and Lynn Britton is my cousin. Did she reply to your comment?
