  1. Incredible to believe, that this tranquil village street-scene was, perhaps only 20 years previous to this photograph, a main route to Darlington leading off Yarm Road. In fact, the short new by-pass road, constructed in the early years of the 20thC., did much to preserve Hartburn’s leafy charm.

    • Yes back in Stockton for the first time in about five years, last year, met some friends in the Masham for “a pie and pint.” Reasonable standard of pub grub and as you say the village was just as I remembered it!
