As I recall a corporation bus service office was at that location and property left on the buses could be claimed there by those who had lost it.
The sign reads “Teesside Municipal Transport” aka The bus company.
I think this was Teesside Municipal Transport. I believe that this was once the office where the conductors on the buses used to hand in the cash they had taken. I remeber my dad occassionally working here when he worked for them.
