  1. It looks as if this photograph was taken from the bow of a newly launched ship that was going down the slipway into the River Tees. What a pity we do not know the actual date of the photograph as the name of the ship could have been traced…

    • Most probably taken from a crane, seeing as there are no dignitaries or bunting. All gone now though.

      • As Cliff said taken from the ship as she was going down the ways… The drag chains left hand side of the picture have not been used yet so the ship is still going down the ways. No crane would have it’s jib over the ship during the launch, as you can see all the cranes have moved to the top of the road a regular happening during a launch… C Relton (shipwright).
