Issued by the Sun Fire Insurance Company these cast lead plaques were affixed at a high level to the front of buildings in order to indicate to the local volunteer fire brigade and that the property was covered by a policy (the number of which is shown). They would therefore be paid for their efforts. This is one of three such plaques that still exist on Yarm High Street today.

My Father was a fire man at Middlesbrough I remember his picture being in the paper he was named fire man of the year, I would love to know if anybody as a copy of any photographs his name was Victor Smith.
